Country music and bluegrass performer Kathleen Alice Mattea is known for bringing Celtic sounds to her work, particularly with her album Love Travels, one of her most critically popular releases.
During her successful career the musician has had a great number of number One compositions, like "Goin' Gone", "Lonesome Standard Time", "Come From the Heart" and "Burnin' Old Memories", "Maybe She's Human", "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses", "Walking Away a Winner", "Nobody's Gonna Rain on Our Parade", "She Came From Fort Worth", "455 Rocket", and "Eighteen Wheels".
Kathy took part in Voices That Care. It is a multi-artist project that featured other famous names in music in order to raise money for the allied troops in the Gulf War. The project included fellow country singers like Randy Travis, Kenny Rogers, Garth Brooks, and others.
The singer was awarded with a Grammy for her gospel-oriented Christmas album Good News (1993). After she moved to MCA in 2000, Mattea released the ballad-heavy The Innocent Years. The musician wanted to explore her taste for Celtic folk music, so she hopped labels to Narada, for whom she debuted in 2002 with Roses.
Kathy Mattea continued to enjoy a strong following throughout the 2000s. Her releases are critically well received, and the performer continues touring and performing. Her most recent album was released in 2005 and is entitled Right Out of Nowhere. In 2006, the new single “Live It” was released.
