Kenny Loggins Background Information
The 1970’s is when Kenny Loggins started becoming a known name in the music industry. He teamed up with Jim Messina and the two went on tour as Loggins and Messina until 1976. In 1978 he released
Nightwatch, which included “Whenever I Call You Friend”, a duet with Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac). 1979 brought the album,
Keep the Fire. He wrote the song “What a Fool Believes” with Michael McDonald. He received a Grammy for “Best Male Pop Vocal” for his song “This Is It” that he also wrote with Michael McDonald.
more Kenny Loggins spent a good majority of his career writing songs for movie soundtracks that have become famous (especially in the karaoke circuit). He wrote “I’m Alright”, “Mr. Night” and “Lead the Way” for Caddyshack. He wrote “Footloose”, and “I’m Free (Heaven Helps the Man)” for Footloose. He wrote “Danger Zone” and “Playing With the Boys” for Top Gun. In 1991, Al Gore honored Loggins by declaring his single “Conviction of the Heart” to be the “unofficial anthem of the environmental movement.” The single was off his album
Leap of Faith. In 1997, Loggins made a number one single, “For the First Time: on Billboards Adult Contemporary Chart. In 2005, Loggins reunited with Jim Messina and the two went on tour again, which led to the CD/DVD release “Loggins and Messina Sittin’ In Again”. He continues to tour around the United States today.
