Lisa Gerrard Background Information
Australian musician, singer, and composer, Lisa Gerrard, gained international renown as a member of the band Dead Can Dance. Her music career spans from the early ‘80s to the present moment. The performer received a Golden Globe award and an Academy Award nomination for the 2000 movie Gladiator.
In 1995, Lisa released her 1st solo album, entitled The Mirror Pool. Three years later, she recorded Duality in collaboration with Pieter Bourke. In 2004, she began a new collaboration with Patrick Cassidy that was later marked by the release of Immortal Memory.

In 2006, a documentary, titled Sanctuary, was recorded. It tells about the life and work of the talented artist Lisa Gerrard. The film was produced and directed by Clive Collier. It features many interviews with Lisa Gerrard and many other artists who have collaborated and worked with her in the past, including Russell Crowe, Hans Zimmer, Michael Mann, and Niki Caro. The film was released on DVD in April 2007.
In 2006, Gerrard recorded her 2nd solo album, entitled The Silver Tree. The record was markedly different from her previous works. It was her first record released outside of 4AD. The release was recorded on iTunes. The same year, the CD was nominated for the Australian Music Prize. Currently, it is listed as one out of 9 of the best Australian albums.
In 2007, the singer released a new album, entitled The Best of Lisa Gerrard. It is a retrospective record, covering her music career in Dead Can Dance, her solo work, and her film work.
