Loretta Lynn Background Information

After several years of “silence”, in 2000, Loretta Lynn released her new album entitled Still Country. The song "I Can't Hear the Music" was included in it as a tribute to her late husband. While the release gained positive critical notices, the sales were still low in comparison with her albums in the ‘70s. In 2002, Loretta published Still Woman Enough, which was her second autobiographical book. In 2004, the musician published You're Cookin' It Country.

In 2004, Loretta and Conway Twitty's rendition of "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" appeared in the videogame Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, playing on fictional country music station. The singer made a comeback with the highly successful recording Van Lear Rose. It became the second album, on which Loretta either wrote or co-wrote every single composition. The album was produced by her friend Jack White of The White Stripes. It featured guitar work and backup vocals by Jack. Their collaboration with allowed Loretta to reach new audiences and generations, she garnered high praise in magazines, which specialize in mainstream rock music. Jack White has long been an admirer of the singer and claims she is his favorite singer. White has covered several songs of hers, including the controversial composition "Rated X".

The singer has written over 160 songs and released 70 albums. She has had 17 no. 1 albums and 27 no. 1 singles on the US charts. She has won dozens of awards from many different institutions, including 4 Grammy Awards, 8 Broadcast Music Incorporated awards 7 American Music Awards, , and 10 Academy of Country Music awards.
