Lucinda Williams Background Information

Lucinda Williams’ 7th album, entitled World Without Tears, was released in 2003. It was a musically adventurous and lyrically downbeat album. Here Williams tried to experiment with talking blues stylings as well as electric blues. In 2006, Williams recorded a version of the John Hartford’s "Gentle On My Mind." It played over the closing credits of the movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby.

In 2007, the singer has released the new album entitled West. For this release, Williams wrote over twenty-seven songs. The recording was released on February 13, 2007. It contains thirteen tracks and has a similar sound to World Without Tears. The composition addresses her mothers' death and a tumultuous relationship break-up.
