A year later, Merle Ronald released his newest record, entitled "Chicago Wind". It received mostly positive reviews. The release contained an anti-Iraq war composition titled "America First." In the song, he laments the country’s economy and infrastructure, applauds American soldiers, and says, "Let's get out of Iraq, and get back on track." In 2006, Merle Ronald Haggard was back on the radio, in a duet together with Gretchen Wilson ("Politically Uncorrect").
