About Nas
Nas grew up listening to his father’s jazz trumpet on their stoop in Brooklyn, New York. Nas dropped out of middle school but amazingly educated himself by reading the Bible, Qur’an, Nubian Islamic Hebrew scrolls, African culture, and the studying the origins of hip-hop. He achieved an incredibly high level of literacy that is reflected into his lyrical poetry. Despite having a large underground following, Nas was rejected my many major labels. In 1992, he secured a deal with Columbia Records and released the critically acclaimed
Illmatic in 1994.
more His next album
It Was Written was released in1996, and reached number one on the U.S. Top 200 chart, thus securing Nas a spot in hip-hop fame. From then on he released seven more albums, five of them reaching number one on both the U.S. Top 200 and U.S. R&B charts. His latest album release,
Untitled, was extremely controversial due to the fact that Nas initially wanted to name the album, N*****. He changed the name citing the reason that he wanted the album to reach all his fans knowing that many retailers would not carry the album with that name. Nas tickets are extremely valuable so hold on to them if you can.
