Oscar D'Leon Brief History
Oscar Emilio Leon Simoza is a highly acclaimed Salsa music genius who has made Latino music popular all over the world. He is better known to fans all over the world as Oscar D'Leon and hails from Caracas in Venezuela. He showed keen interest in bass guitar at a very tender age and used to do alternate jobs as an automobile mechanic during the day and a bass player at night in his early childhood. Oscar D'Leon is a great improviser and a stupendous singer who had the capabilities to dance, play the double bass as well as sing simultaneously on stage.
Oscar D'Leon was instrumental in starting musical groups like LA Golden Star, Los Psicodelicos and La Dimension Latina in the early 70's. In the early pat of 1976, Oscar D'Leon created the La Salsa Mayor Group and recorded Juanita Morell which was a huge radio hit song in Puerto Rico. He also founded La Critica in the fond memory of Cuban Rumba legends and was a lead singer in both the orchestras for sometime. Oscar D'Leon is popularly known as El Sonero del Mundo which means “The Improviser of the World” and became very popular in Cuba, Puerto Rica as well as Carribbean and Latin American countries.
The world started taking notice of this singer by the late seventies and the salsa music created by Oscar D'Leon became a rage in the early 80's. Oscar D'Leon is considered to be one of the greatest singers of the Caribbean music and is regarded by his countrymen as the Pride of Venezuela. No artist living in this planet can match the swings and the performance of this Salsa King on stage and the crowds that are present in his concerts are testimony to the fact that he is one of the greatest salsa entertainers the world has ever seen.
