Pat Benatar Brief Information

Pat Benatar is one of the top hard rock, pop rock female artists to rule the music world in the 80's and early 90's. Pat Benatar was born to Polish-Irish parents as Patricia Mae Andrzejewski in Greenpoint a nearby town to Brooklyn. She grew up in Long Island in New York and was keenly interested in opera. She got married to her high school boyfriend and moved along with him to Virginia. She was employed in a bank there and used to sing in the night, but she was not utterly satisfied with her bank job. She then moved on to New York and after her split with her husband in 1979, Pat Benatar began to seriously pursue her singing career and became the singer at the New York City comedy club.

Pat Benatar released her first single Heartbreaker in 1979 and it was listed in the 23rd position in U.S. Pat Benatar turned out to be a reckoning force in the rock scenario when her first LP “ In The Heat Of The Night” made the 12th position in U.S. Her second LP “Crimes of Passion” was even more successful as it featured the smash hit song “ Hit Me with Your Best Shot” that she had written and sung to show her passion for animal conservation and rights.

In 1983 came the greatest hit of Pat Bentar named “Love Is a Battlefield” with a video-clip featuring her in a group dance and was aimed for airing in MTV. With this song she bagged Grammy award for the “Best Female performance” in Rock Vocal category for the fourth consecutive time. She has also won the American Music Awards for three times and was selected twice as the “Favorite Female Vocalist” by the Rolling Stone Magazine. Although Pat Bentar was stamped as a solo artist, she has recorded many songs along with other band members through out her career and they are featured on many of her music videos as well as album photos.
