Rush Background Information

Canadian rock band Rush consists of guitarist Alex Lifeson, keyboardist, bassist, and vocalist Geddy Lee, and lyricist and drummer Neil Peart. The band was organized in the summer of 1968, in Toronto, Ontario, by Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and John Rutsey. Neil Peart replaced John Rutsey on drums in 1974, a couple of weeks before the band’s first tour across the United Sates. Since the release of their self-titled debut album, the band has become known for the virtual instrumental virtuosity play of its members, as well as eclectic lyrical motifs and complex compositions.
