Spice Girls Background Information
The Spice Girls are an English pop group, founded in 1994. Two years later after the band’s foundation, the Spice Girls, consisting of Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell released their debut single, “Wannabe”. It took the song only a couple of weeks to get the top of the UK Singles Chart. In the period of time from 1994 to 2000, the all-female band released the total of three studio albums and recorded ten singles, selling over 55 million records worldwide.
Before the split up which happened in 2000, the Spice Girls released the albums Spice (1996), Spiceworld (1997), and Forever (2000) and popped up the world with their top-selling singles Wannabe, Say You’ll Be There, 2 Become 1, Mama / Who Do You Think You Are, Spice Up Your Life, Stop, Too Much, Viva Forever, and Goodbye.
In 2000, the band split up, and the members went their own ways to start up their solo careers. Although the singers were quite successful as solos, they decided to reunite in July 2007, and already in November 2007, they released their fourth and first after the reunion album titled Greatest Hits. With this album the reunited Spice Girls started up for their World Tour under the title “The Return of the Spice Girls”. With Vancouver as a starting point, the tour attracted millions of vigorous fans.
After the Reunion, the Spice Girls released their next single Headlines (Friendship Never Ends), which entered the British singles chart with the twentieth place on download two weeks before the official release of the single. After a seven-year break the Spice Girls are full of energy to amaze their truthful fans with more stunning singles, exciting shows and spectacular performances.
