This professional a cappella group has taken the nation by storm since the mid-90s, as Straight No Chaser’s adaptations of both popular music and Christmas songs coupled with an unprecedented knack for entertaining crowds has proven to be a deadly combination. (June 21), and several others along the way before trekking across the country for shows at Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay in San Diego, Calif. (Aug. 15), The Adler Theatre in Davenport, Iowa (Oct. 18) and Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Fla. (Nov. 23). This talented group originated in 1996 while the 10 members were students at Indiana University, but it wasn’t until the 2006 viral video for “The 12 Days of Christmas” became a YouTube hit that they were at last “discovered.” By then, all of the singers had continued down other career paths, but jumped at the opportunity to record music professionally with the band.
