Sugarland Background Information

Jennifer Nettles, the lead singer and harmony vocalist, mandolinist cum guitarist Kristian Bush from Atlanta, Georgia comprise the well known Sugarland band founded in 2003 by Kristen hall who was also a member on the band until she left in 2006. All the three of them were regularly singing at the folk scene and were playing at Eddie's attic in Decatur, Georgia prior to coming together to found Sugarland. In 2003, Sugarland signed to Mercury Nashville records and their single Baby Girl broke records for remaining for the longest time on the Billboard charts. Sugarland has released eight singles and two studio albums and are also the winner of the Hot Country Songs chart. Sugarland is also the 2007 winner of the Country Music Association Duo of the year award. The debut album ‘Twice the speed of life' of the band sold over 2 million copies and Jennifer Nettles duo with Bon Jovi for their song “Who says you cant go home” reached the No. 1 ranking on the country charts. In the year 2005 they toured the United States and Canada with Brad Paisley and in the year 2006 with Brooks and Dunn. In February 2006 they were the nominees for the best new artist Grammy and also performed the song “Something More”. Sugarland's ‘Stay' is one of the chart topping songs which was written by lead singer and song writer Jennifer Nettles. This song was written four years ago and was inspired by Reba Mc Entire's “Whoever's in New England” and the storyline is about betrayal and about a wife whose husband has been cheating on her. Their album in which ‘Stay' as well as “Want to” and “Settlin” are sung was released in late 2006 and has been certified double platinum for selling 2 million units. Sugarland has received five nominations from the CMT awards this year including Video of the Year for ‘Stay', Performer of the year for ‘Stay' and Tearjerker Video of the year for ‘Stay'.
