A Brief Intro to The Black Keys

The group called The Black Keys consists of Patrick Carney on drums and Daniel Auerbach on vocals guitar. The group originates from Akron, Ohio and is into blues-rock. The band has frequently been compared to The White Stripes, also a blues rock group. Their debut album was out in 2002, titled The Big Come Up. Next year saw Thickfreakness and Rubber factory in 2004. On March 18 2005, DVD Live which was recorded at The Metro Theatre, Sydney Australia was released. Magic Portion and Chulahoma EP came out in 2006. The band has a trademark of using odd recording and production techniques such as using analog effects and tape recorders. Most of the recording and mixing is done by The Black Keys themselves.

The Black Keys have enjoyed a number of success hits. In 2003, their song ‘Set you Free' was used as part of the soundtrack of the movie, School of rock. Rolling stone and ‘When the Lights Go Out' was a feature on Black Snake Man, a Samuel Jackson's film. Time magazine have both expended accolades on them with the later listing them as one of the best acts of 2003. They have toured with Sleater-Kinney (2003) and a bit with Beck. They also performed at Lollapalooza (2005). They recently opened for Radiohead during the American lap of a brief tour in 2006.

They have made appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brian and The Late Show with David Letterman. ‘Girls on My Mind' a song of The Black keys was used as a Sony Ericsson commercial starring Tennis Star, Ana Ivanovic and Daniel Hantuchovaam which helped propel there popularity. Victoria” Secret also had their share of the same song using it in a commercial. The movie Rest Stop also featured the same song. The video game MLB '06: The Show, the O.C featured their song, '10 AM Automatic'. American Express also used the same song on a commercial. ‘Your touch' was used in a Levis Jeans commercial and also an NBC Friday Night Lights episode. They also have other hits that had other TV and film appearances.
