As of 2007, the English rock band has released 12 studio albums and more than 30 singles, with a 13th album in the works.
The band has been writing and recording material for their new studio album since 2006. Some recent reports confirm that there will be a double album, with a projected spring 2008 release. During one of the recent interviews Smith stated that probably a double album would come out like a limited edition, mixed by himself. There will also be a single-disc version, which he assumes will be primarily chosen by the label. It will probably mixed by someone else in order to have a different thing. There was actually a concern that The Cure fans would feel like they have to get both albums. However, Smith agreed to sell the double version at a single-album price.
