About The Fray

Currently the band has four permanent members: Isaac Slade, the vocalist and the pianist, Ben Wysocki, on drums, Dave Welsh, on guitar, and Joe King, on guitar and vocals. There is no official bassist, but during the recent months, the Fray have been touring with Jimmy Stofer. When talking about the bands main influences in music, the guys mention Better Than Ezra and Counting Crows bands.

In the spring of 2002, Isaac Slade and Joe King met in a local guitar center in Denver, Colorado. Lately, they began meeting regularly and writing songs. They wanted to create a unique style of performance, uniting the friendly style of U2 band and the remarkable music of Coldplay. Jack Johnson and Slades brother were later added to the band. However, later, the former left as he had to proceed with his studies in NY. Ben Wysocki became the new drummer and Dave Welsh was chosen to be the new guitarist. The relationship between the two brothers Isaac and Caleb Slade inspired the creation of the famous Over My Head. Caleb was the bands bassist, and since his departure, there has been no permanent bass guitarist.

The Fray was chosen to be the bands ID, as the boys claimed that they often quarreled with each other and had different views upon the bands music and lyrics. Nevertheless, lately, they stated that the Fray members were on good terms and had no contradictions connected with the music composing.

At the end of 2004, the Fray was named the Best New Band by the readers of the Westword periodical. The Epic Records Company soon found out about the new promising group and agreed to release their first album. In 2005 the Fray were touring with Weezer, a rock band from Los Angeles, CA, and the following year the boys made their own tour playing with the singer Mat Kearney and Cary Brothers, another indie rock American singer.
