During an Ike Turner Review recording session 50 years ago, a 21-year-old girl named Anna Mae Bullock stepped in for an absent singer on the track “A Fool in Love”. The song quickly became an unlikely crossover R&B hit and broke into the Top 30 of the US pop chart. Bullock would change her name to Tina Turner and launch a career that has spanned five decades. In the 1960’s and 1970’s, Tina grew a designation as a spirited performer on stage with her then husband Ike. Following her divorce, Tina was forced to rebuild her career and finally broke through as a solo artist with her best-selling album, Private Dancer, in 1984. The Tina! 50th Anniversary Tour traveled around the world from 2008-2009, playing 52 shows. Although “The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll” has passed the age of 70, many fans still hold out hope for additional Tina Turner tour dates to be announced someday soon.
