There's plenty of fun things to do at the California Mid-State Fair, but topping the night off with an amazing concert by Train on Thursday, July 24, 2014 would be the icing on the cake. If you're planning on attending the upcoming Paso Robles concert, read through the helpful venue information below to ensure a good time.
California Mid-State Fair Seating Information
The Chumash Grandstand is an expansive outdoor venue situated on the California Mid-State Fairgrounds with some covered seating available. If you're facing the stage, sections 10-12 sit directly next to the right side of the stage, with the seating starting at A in the front of the stage, and going to DD near the rear. Sections 16-20 sit on the left side of the stage, with seating going from A-N at the front and P-BB at the back of the stage. The view may be skewed from some of these seats, as they are located on the sides of the stage, but these are permanent seating structures and have a roof over them. Sections 601-604 sit directly in front of the stage, and rows go from A-Z in the half of the seating closest to the stage and AA-HHH in the second half of the section. Sections 500 and 700 sit at the front corners of the stage, and sections 701-707 fan out from the right side of section 600 and sections 501-508 fan out from the left side. Sections 1-4 and 8 sit at the back of the venue, in permanent, partially covered, raised seating. Sections 14 and 15 are at the back of the venue as well in seating that is angled towards the stage. There is a non-alcohol section available in section 15 from rows A-D.
California Mid-State Fair General Information
All guests must purchase fair admission along with their Train tickets for the Chumash Grandstand Arena because the venue is located on the fairgrounds. All other stages, like Fort Frontier, Mission Square and Paso Pete's Ponderosa are free with admission to the fair. Smoking is not permitted in the equestrian and livestock areas or in any of the buildings, and is only allowed in designated smoking areas in the Chumash Arena. Re-entry is permitted, as long as all guests get a hand stamp at the main exit gate. Lockers are available onsite to store any possessions for a small fee, and all bags are subject to a search upon entering the premises. No outside food is allowed inside the fairgrounds, but all guests are allowed to bring in two unopened plastic water bottles (There are no drinking fountains available on the grounds). Personal cameras are permitted inside the venue, but audio and video recording as well as professional cameras are strictly prohibited.
California Mid-State Fair Parking Information
Parking is limited at the Mid-State Fair, and it is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parking fees vary depending on the lot, and no RV parking is available. The designated parking lot is located on Riverside Avenue by the Paso Robles Event Center, but there are free shuttles from lots offsite. Be sure to check for the exact list of locations where shuttles are available on the California Mid-State Fair's website.
California Mid-State Fair Gate Times
The California Mid-State Fair generally opens at 12 p.m. local time and closes at 12 a.m. daily. Entry to the actual venue is at the discretion of the event staff.

The Chumash Grandstand Arena has accessible seating available for those in need in section 13, and has accessible facilities onsite as well. Guests are encouraged to contact a California Mid-State Fair staff member beforehand for any special requests or needed accommodations.
