About Vince Gill

In 1983, he decided to sign a contract with RCA Records as a solo artist. His songs started appearing in charts while being on that label. However, six years later, Vince Gill switched to MCA Records. The same year he released the breakthrough hit "When I Call Your Name." Gill’s album The Key, which was released in 1998, was acclaimed by music critics. Later, he recorded two more albums Let's Make Sure We Kiss Goodbye (2000) and Next Big Thing (2003).

In 1980, Vince married Janis Gill, who used to be a country singe, too. They have one daughter, who was born on May 5 1982. However, in the late ’90, the couple divorced. His second wife is Amy Grant, a well-known Christian pop singer, whom he married in 2000. They have one daughter.

Vince Gill was the host of the CMA Awards twelve consecutive years, from 1992 to 2003. The following year he received a Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance, and in 1997, he was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma.

Being a fan of Vince Gill, Mark Knopfler, the leader of the world-famous band Dire Straits, once asked Vince to join the group. Gill turned down the invitation, however, agreeing to sing backup on one of the Dire Straits’ song "The Bug" (the album On Every Street).
