The XPoNential Music Festival seems to only increase in popularity each year, as the event continues to add more high-profile artists to the lineup with each new installment. On April 16, festival host, University of Pennsylvania’s public radio station, WXPN-FM, announced a slate full of well-known artists for the 2013 XPoNential Music Festival, taking place over three days this summer, July 26-28. This year’s main headliners, The Lumineers and Philly-based Dr. Dog, will perform at the Susquehanna Bank Center on July 27. The Lumineers have quickly risen to fame thanks to a successful 2012, and also will play at Lollapalooza in Chicago the following weekend on Aug. 3.
During the festival, dozens of other musicians are scheduled to perform, including Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dr. John, folk singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle, and the Australian jam band, John Butler Trio. True to the festival’s roots, several Philadelphia-area groups will also be featured, among them, 12-piece entertainers Alo Brasil, indie rockers DRGN KNG, and soul group Aaron and the Spell. The family-friendly event also features events for children, as well as booths from local vendors and sponsors of the radio station.
