The Atlanta Braves fell behind early Tuesday night, and could not recover as they lost 8-3 to the Philadelphia Phillies. Charles Morton got hit early, as he allowed 8 hits and 5 runs through only 2 innings. The Braves bullpen was able to stop the fire as they combined for 7 innings allowing only 3 runs which came in the 9th. Chipper Jones and Mark Kotsay were welcomed back for the Braves but could not provide any offense as they went a combined 1-7 on the night. Greg Norton had a pinch hit double that drove in 2 runs cutting the Philles lead to 5-3 in the 7th, but that was all Atlanta’s offense could manage. The Braves will look to get even as they take on the Phillies in the second game of the series on Wednesday.
