The Boston Red Sox were able to avoid being swept at home as they beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-3 Sunday. Kevin Youkilis hit two home runs in the game, with his second being the game winner. Youkilis hit a 2-run shot in the bottom of the 13th inning to help the Red Sox avoid being swept at home. Both teams had plenty of opportunities to score in extra innings but it was Boston who finally succeeded. Jonathan Papelbon blew his 4th save of the season by allowing a run in the top of the 9th inning. Jon Lester had another fine performance as he went 7 1/3, allowing 9 hits, 2 runs and 1 walk while striking out 3. Boston will host the Diamondbacks Monday to start a 3 game series with them.
