The Boston Red Sox lost 5-4 in the bottom of the 10th inning Sunday night, allowing rival the New York Yankees a split in the series. Boston had a 4-2 lead disappear in the bottom of the 7th inning, and after the Red Sox failed to score in the next 2 1/2 innings, the Yankees ended the game with a single from Brett Gardner. Jonathan Papelbon suffered the loss as he allowed 2 hits and a run in only 2/3'rds of an inning. Dustin Pedroia had 2 RBI for the Red Sox who managed 7 hits as a team. Boston had their chance in the 9th inning when with 2 outs and a runner on 3rd, Manny Ramirez pinch hit only to strike out looking on three straight pitches. The Red Sox will welcome the Minnesota Twins for a 3 game series starting Monday.
