Boston has been somewhat wishy-washy as of late. Good, then bad or bad, then good. Either way it happened, they were not gaining ground on 1st place Tampa Bay Rays. That seems to be in the past now. They are currently on a four-game, incredibly hot, win-streak. After dusting aside the Chicago White Sox this past Monday, the Red Sox destroyed the Texas Rangers in a three-game, 37 total runs scored, sweep. They put up football-like points throughout the series: 19 in the first game, 8 in the second, and 10 in the third. The final game by the way, was a shutout. They are now slowly gaining ground on the Rays, who’s lead has now dwindled to 3 games. Tonight marks the first game of a new, three-game series against Toronto. Paul Byrd, the recent acquisition from the Cleveland Indians, will start for the first time in a Red Sox uniform. The Red Sox hope his recent hot streak since the All-Star break will also continue.
