Colorado Rockies 2007 Season Preview

The previous year was the first season that the team had any expectations of the increased success, as many rookie players returned with a year of ML experience and the Colorado Rockies' rooster was generally considered as well stocked with many talented players. Colorado Rockies got off to a strong start during the first months of 2006, almost holding the first place. However, as the season proceeded into summer, the Rockies slowed down a bit. After having lost eleven of twelve games in July, the Rockies seemed to lose any hopes for 2006 playoffs, and started focusing on success in 2007 instead. Colorado finished the previous season tied for the last place in the National League West Division with 0.496 (76 wins versus 86 losses), the team still made success by winning nine games more than during the previous season.

In 2007 as in the 2006, the Rockies' flagship radio station will be KOA 850AM. Jeff Kingery and Jack Corrigan will continue announcing.

The Colorado Rockies started the new season with making some changes to the team’s rooster. On January 4, 2007, the franchise signed right-handed pitcher Dave Veres to a Minor League deal and invited him to Spring Training. On January 9, 2007, catcher Javy Lopez signed a one-year deal with Colorado. On January 12, the Rockies acquired right-handed pitcher Rodrigo Lopez from Baltimore in exchange for right-handed pitchers Jim Miller and Jason Burch. On January 15, infielder/outfielder John Mabry agreed to sign a Minor League deal. The following day, outfielders Matt Holliday and Cory Sullivan, left-handed pitcher Jeremy Affeldt, and right-handed pitcher Rodrigo Lopez were signed to one-year deals. On January 22, Brian Lawrence agreed to sign a one-year deal with an option for 2008.

The 2007 season will start with a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 2.  Vividseats.com is your source for tickets to nearly every sports event in the United States. Search for your Colorado Rockies tickets among the available tickets to hundreds of sports events.
