Rockies Season Update

Before the 2007 season, Jennings was traded to the Astros for outfielder Willy Taveras and two pitchers Taylor Buchholz and Jason Hirsh. Jennings had been actually the winningest pitcher in the Colorado Rockies franchise history. In January 2007, some rumors surfaced that the Colorado Rockies were going to trade Todd Helton, the face of the team. However, since Larry Walker was traded, one of the best player in the franchise history, the team decided to keep Helton after negotiations with the Red Sox apparently failed.

Currently the team is fourth in the West Division of the National League with .514 (36 wins versus 34 losses). The Colorado Rockies are 19 – 18 at home and 17 – 16 on the road (as of June 20, 2007).

On May 28, 2007, Colorado placed right-handed pitcher Josh Fogg on the fifteen-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. Right-handed pitcher was recalled Ryan Speier from Triple-A Colorado Springs and optioned Speier to Colorado Springs. On June 5, the Rockies designated outfielder Steve Finley for assignment and selected outfielder Sean Barker from Triple-A Colorado Springs. On June 15, the team released outfielder Steve Finley, and the following day, recalled outfielder Cory Sullivan from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Outfielder Sean Barker was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Spring.

The current management and coaching staff of the team include Clint Hurdle (Manager), Glenallen Hill (First Base Coach), Jamie Quirk (Bench Coach), Rick Mathews (Bullpen Coach), Mike Gallego (Third Base Coach and Infield Instructor), Bob Apodaca (Pitching Coach), Mark Strittmatter (Bullpen Catcher), Alan Cockrell (Hitting Coach), Brad Andress (Strength Coach & Quality Control Administrator).
