The Detroit Tigers managed to come out on top 14-12 Wednesday night over the Cleveland Indians. In a game that had 26 total runs and 41 hits, it was Detroit that came out with the win after the smoke cleared. Detroit traded catcher Ivan Rodriguez earlier in the day and fell behind 8-1 after just 3 innings. The Tigers fought their way back all game as they eventually took the lead in the 9th inning. But the Indians would not go down without a fight as they tied the game at 12 to send it to extra innings. Detroit was able to score two runs in the 13th inning, after both teams went scoreless for three straight innings. In a game that featured no pitching, several Tigers had big nights. Amongst them was Curtis Granderson (5 hits, 3 runs, 2 RBI), Placido Polanco (2 hits, 2 runs, 3 RBI), Miguel Cabrera (3 hits, 1 run, 4 RBI) and Gary Sheffield ahad 4 hits. The Tigers managed to get out of three bases loaded jams including the 10th and 12th innings. Detroit will finish up the 4 game series Thursday with the Indians before heading to Tampa Bay to take on the Rays Friday.
