Kansas City Royals News

2009 Kansas City Royals Preview

The Kansas City Royals have revamped many aspects of their team for the 2009 season. After a disappointing conclusion to 2008, in which the Royals landed at 4th place in the AL Central, the team is looking to be a more major force this year. They have replaced some of their players and beefed up their pitching staff. The addition of Kyle Farnsworth to the bullpen, with his 4.47 ERA, is a great change of pace and atmosphere for the pitchers. Alex Gordon (3B) and Billy Butler (DH) have had difficulty in the last few years, but hopefully they will both be able to settle down this season and get into a hitting rhythm. While their 4th place finish last year was much better than the previous years’ last place finishes, they are hoping for a lot more. They may not have a pitching staff that is as young and talented as other teams in the division, but they will be able to compete on a much better level than before.
