Mike Pelfrey had another strong performance Tuesday night, as his New York Mets blanked the San Francisco Giants 7-0. Pelfrey pitched 7 dominant innings, allowing only 3 hits while striking out 5. The Mets bullpen picked up where he left off, pitching w perfect innings of relief. New York got things going early by scoring 3 runs in the first inning, then scoring their final runs in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings. Four Mets homered, including Carlos Beltran, Damion Easley, Carlos Delgado and Fernando Tatis. New York had 14 hits as a team and improved to 2 games over .500 on the year. The Mets will look to keep things rolling as they go for their 5th straight win Wednesday night against the Giants in game 2 of the 3 game set.
