The sweep in baseball is an oh-so-sweet feeling of complete dominance. Unfortunately for the N.Y. Yankees, it was they who were swept in their three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, which is especially heartbreaking for the Yanks because that now places them 8 ½ games behind Tampa Bay in the A.L. East, and 4 games behind the second place Red Sox. The Yankees now realize that every game is beginning to have playoff implications, and as they head into the third series of their road trip against the Minnesota Twins, manager Joe Girardi needs his team to perform. Tonight’s Yankees/Twins match up will probably feature Ponson (7-2) vs. Perkins (8-3).
