The Oakland Athletics blew up for Tuesday night, beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 15-1. The A's had 15 team hits as well, with several players contributing with big nights. Mark Ellis went 3 for 4 with 4 runs batted in, Ryan Sweeney had 3 hits and 4 runs scored and numerous other players had 2 and 3 hit games. The explosion started early for Oakland and they scored in every inning except the 6th and 7th, and capped it all off with a six run 9th inning. Justin Duchscherer nearly went the distance as he pitched 8 strong innings allowing only 5 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 6. Brandon Webb was responsible for the loss, as he lasted only 3 1/3 innings allowing 9 hits, 5 walks and 7 earned runs.
