Phillies 8 Braves 3

The Philadelphia Phillies got a solid pitching performance Tuesday night as they beat the Atlanta Braves 8-3. Kyle Kendrick pitched 6 innings allowing 7 hits, 3 runs and 2 walks while striking out 2. The Phillies bullpen did the rest as they pitched 3 scoreless innings to wrap it up for Philadelphia. Shane Victorino and Pat Burrell supplies the offense as they combined for 6 runs batted in, including home runs by each player. The Phillies were in control most of the game as they jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd and added four more runs the following inning. The Braves cut the lead to 5-3 in the 7th but that was as all they could manage as they allowed 3 runs in the 9th which sealed their fate. The second game of the series will take place Wednesday.
