Padres lose wild one

In a game that had the San Diego Padres almost 2 innings away from being victim of a perfect game, the Padres fell 3-0 Tuesday night.  Brian Giles broke up Doug Davis’s attempt at a pefect game with a 2-out single in the bottom of the 7th inning.  The crazy part came the following inning, when the Padres managed to load the bases and force Davis out of the game with 2 outs.  Pinch hitter Jody Gerut hit a ball to deep right field but Alex Romero made a great catch to save the game for the Diamondbacks and ruin the Padres chance for a whacky win.  Chris Young didn’t pitch bad himself as he pitched 5 innings allowing 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out eight and getting a no decision.  San Diego will try to take the series Wednesday night in the finale.
