The Seattle Mariners fell in a hole early and could never quite recover as lost 4-2 to the Boston Red Sox Tuesday night. J.D Drew homered for Boston in the first inning and a 3 run 5th inning from the Red Sox put them ahead for good. Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched seven dominant innings against the Mariners before Seattle managed a small comeback to knock him out of the game. The Mariners scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning off Dice-K from a RBI double by Ichiro and a RBI single from Jose Lopez. They could not complete the comeback as Hideki Okajima and Jonathan Papelbon put Seattle away. The Mariners will look to avoid a sweep when they take on the Red Sox Wednesday night in the series finale.
