The Washington Nationals couldn't do much Tuesday night as they lost 2-1 to the Philadelphia Phillies. Brett Myers shut down the Nationals for 7 innings, as Washington managed just 4 hits on the night. They caught a break in the 8th inning when Chase Utley's fielding error put 2 runners on with nobody out. Ryan Langerhans sacrificed the runners over and Willie Hallis got the Nationals on the board with an RBI groundout. Ronnie Belliard would ground out to end the inning and Washington went down in order in the 9th as they lost 2-1. Collin Balester suffered the loss as his one mistake was a costly one. Balester pitched six innings allowing 2 runs and 6 hits, while striking out 5. The Nationals will look to even the series on Wednesday night with they take on the Phillies in the second game of this series.
