Chicago White Sox 2007 Season Update

The Chicago White Sox started the 2007 season trying to re-claim the AL Central title, which they last achieved in the 2005 season, when Chicago won the 2005 World Series. The team failed to win the 2006 American League Central championships, when the Minnesota Twins became the winners. Notable events of 2007 include Mark Buehrle pitching a no-hitter in late April 2007.

As of June 13, the team is fourth in the Central Division of the American League with .443 (27 wins versus 34 losses, and 14-16 at home and 13-18 on the road). The White Sox’s present manager is Ozzie Guillen.

On June 6, 2007, the team placed Joe Crede on the fifteen-day disabled list, retroactive to June 5 (who suffers from lower back inflammation) and recalled Josh Fields from Triple-A Charlotte. Two days earlier, the White Sox optioned right-handed pitcher Mike MacDougal to Triple-A Charlotte, and purchased the deals of right-handed pitcher Ryan Bukvich and right-handed pitcher Bret Prinz from Charlotte. Chicago transferred infielder/outfielder Pablo Ozuna from the fifteen-day to the sixty-day disabled list. On June 3, 2007, right-handed pitcher David Aardsma was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte. Outfielder Darin Erstad was also placed on the fifteen-day disabled list because of his sprained left ankle.

The current Chicago coaches include Harold Baines (first base), Don Cooper (pitching), Greg Walker (hitting), Joey Cora (bench), Art Kusnyer (bullpen), and Razor Shines (third base).
