2008 Aaron's 312 Information
The Talladega Superspeedway will soon play host to the Aaron’s 312, a race that is a part of the NASCAR nationwide series and is due to take place on the 26th of April. Every race must have its quirks and this is none the different, for one, it became a war of words over whether the race should be measured in kilometers or in miles. To recap all that brouhaha again, the race first started off as a 500 km or a 312 mile event but in the face of the opposition to using what many saw as a European term, that is the km, the race was then converted to miles.
more As far as I am concerned, it was much about nothing.
Anyway, today the race is run on the Talladega Superspeedway, a track that was constructed on old international airport runaways. The road has seen much action back then in the 1960’s and still sees them today as well. At the length of 2.66 miles [4.28km], this track is the longest as well as one that is the most steeply banked oval track in the series. The one unusual thing about this race is that the start and the finish are placed after the pit exit, while the norm is to place them right across where the pit is. Naturally, the drivers take quite a bit to get used to this new arrangement. All in all, there is never a dull moment at these races and to make sure that you are one of the crowds enjoying the moment on the 26th, get your tickets and your seats at vividseats.com .
