History of the Arizona Travel 200

The Arizona Travel 200 is held at the Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale in Arizona. Arizona Travel 200 is a NASCAR Nationwide Series race event. In 1999 the first Arizona Travel 200 race was held but it was then known as the Outback Steakhouse 200. In the year 2002 it became called Basha's supermarkets 200. The re-aligning of the 2 major nationwide race series led to the Arizona Travel 200 taking over the November slot the same year.

Arizona Travel 200 is a part of the NASCAR Nationwide Series which is a stock racing series. This series is owned and arranged by the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing. The promotion of the races on minor league level was done to give way to drivers who wanted to move up to the big league Sprint Cup. These races are normally held in the same venue but a day ahead of the Sprint Cup races to encourage fans from both groups to attend the race.
