About the Banquet 400
The Banquet 400 is one of the Nextel Cup races of the NASCAR series. It takes place at Kansas
Speedway track in Kansas City, Kansas. It is 400.5 mile race of 267 laps. The race is supported by
the ConAgra Foods and got its name after one of its brands – the Banquet. The first race was held
in 2001. Originally it was known as the Protection One 400. And only in 2003 the race got its
current name the Banquet. During its still quite a short history the Banquet 400 produced a number

The last Banquet 400 race has been
scored by an outstanding racing driver Tony Stewart.
Stewart is representing the Joe Gibbs Racing team. He started his racing career in karts and
made great strides very soon. When Stewart was only 16 years old, he advanced in the World Karting
Championship and scored the first place (1987). Tony Stewart is quite successful at driving stock
cars as well as sprint cars and Indy cars. Srewart first appeared in the Nextel Cup of the NASCAR
series in 1999. His first race was at the Daytona 500 and he reached the finish second then. He
made headway during his first Nextel Cup season – he remained in the leading group all the year.
Besides, he gained three victories in the season series, which became a new rookie record. 2005 is
considered to be Stewarts Nextel Cup career peak He scored 5 victories in the NASCAR series. This
year finished with Stewarts winning the NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship.
2006 season started for Stewart quite successfully, but he had several problems with health,
which prevented him from continuing this winning series. He faced a number of crashes with Jeff
Gordon, Kyle Busch and Kenseth. Also Stewart had an un pleasant incident. During one of the series
he was by chance pushed to the wall by one of his fellow drivers (Bowyer). And after that Stewart
deliberately hit Bowyer's car. Though the following day he appologized for such behavior. The 2006
season Stewart, unfortunately, didnt reach the Chase.
Tony Stewart is an outstanding and experienced racer and he is by right included in the National
Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame. Now he is building up his strengh and trying to regain his
