Formerly known as the Gatorade Duel, the 2013 Budweiser Duel, a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500 preliminary event, will take place on Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Daytona International Speedway. Held just days before the annual “Great American Race,” the Budweiser Duel will once again consist of two races of 150 miles each, which serve as qualifying rounds for the Daytona 500. The order of finish for the pair of races determines the 2013 Daytona 500 lineup that is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 24. Past top finishers have included Matt Kenseth, Tony Stewart, Jeff Burton, Kurt Busch, Kasey Kahne, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
Fans can purchase 2013 Budweiser Duel tickets today to reserve seats for exciting events such as this leading up to the always thrilling Daytona 500. The race is known to be unpredictable, though on certain occasions, one of the winners from the Budweiser Duel prelim round did go on to claim the Daytona 500 crown, including last year’s victor, Matt Kenseth.
