2008 Daytona 250 Information

The Daytona 250 would be taking place this year on the 4th of July, at the Daytona International Speedway, which is close to the Daytona Beach. This race takes place just before the Nextel cup 300, so one may watch the next one as well. Most of the races that are held these days have a name change as a result of the change in sponsorship and likewise this race too has changed its name many a time as we would change our clothes.

This race had had many a winner but no one had won this race twice, at least until 2006 when it was won by Dale Earnhardt who had also won the 2003 edition. This race was held since 2002 and has just managed to get a person to win it twice. That should speak volumes about the track itself, the Daytona International Speedway. The track is a tri oval track which is 2.5 miles long, so with that length, the race should be at least for 100 laps. The turns at this track are a bit steep at thirty one degrees and with the front stretch at 3,800 feet the back stretch is around 3,000 feet. This track has played host to many a race from that of the go-carts, motor cycles, sports cars and now stock cars. This track comes with a lake as well and that definitely makes the race all the more alluring to the visitors here. The lake is called Lake Lloyd; by the way, did you know that the lake was formed as a result of the large hole getting filled as a result of the low water table? That is just one of the stories about this track. Anyway, all the races, including this one are bound to be an eye opener and you can get your tickets at and come and check it all out.
