About the Daytona 500

Get your tickets to see the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing and feel the rush of wind as the 200 mile an hour stock cars speed by your seats. Since the first Daytona 500 in 1959, people have flocked to see who will win and who will make it through without a crash. Since the beginning of this grand tradition, greats such as Richard Petty have given audiences in Florida great excitement as they speed to beat their competitors. Ever since the first broadcast in 1979, the Daytona 500 has been one of the most anticipated races to ever grace the track. Audiences await for chaos to break out, as it usually does, like in 1979 when a fight broke out right before the finish line between brothers Bobby Allison, Donnie Allison, and Cale Yarborough.

The Allison family isnt the only kin to decorate the Florida track, the more recent family has been the Earnhardts. Dale Earnhardt won his first Daytona 500 in 1998 after 20 attempts and fails. Dale Earnhardt was one of the most widely observed drivers in NASCAR because of his crashes, mechanical problems, and bad luck that often occurred for 20 years straight. After 24 years of NASCAR driving, Dale Earnhardt died tragically in a 2001 Daytona 500 crash that was thought to have occurred because of a restrictor-plate problem. This specific NASCAR Winston Cup, which is now called Nextel Cup, is one that will be remembered throughout all NASCAR history. Dale Earnhardt Jr., son of the late Dale, went on to win the 2004 Daytona 500 three years after his fathers death, and exactly six years after his father had won the 500 himself.

Recently, Daytona 500 has brought on the new name of Jeff Gordon. Since his popularity sky-rocketed, he has won three Daytona 500s including his win in 2005. NASCAR racing is now being shown exclusively on FOX network after a long struggle between NBC and the previous airing network, CBS. So make sure to get your Daytona 500 tickets so you can go to Florida and witness the most exciting race in all of NASCAR. The Nextel Cup provides the largest sale of NASCAR tickets, but they go fast. So come out to Daytona and watch that checkered flag drop and experience the roar of the engines, the crowd, and your own hear, as the thrill of this race will most definitely enthuse you.
