Dollar General 300 Race History

Dollar general 300 is a car race sponsored by Dollar General Company and is conducted by National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing or NASCAR as one of the races in the Busch series. The cars used in this series are similar to those cars used in Nextel Cup but are slightly smaller. The location of Dollar general 300 is Lowe's motor speed way in Concord. The track is a 1.5 mile super speed way quad-oval which has 24-degree banking in the turns. The entire race length of the Dollar general 300 is 200 laps and the distance is about 300 miles.

In order to race for the Dollar general 300, a driver has to first take part in the qualifying race conducted by the NASCAR. Once the cars are qualified, they are impounded by the NASCAR and the driver's official speed for the race will be determined from the two laps qualifying round. The top 30 qualifiers will be offered a guaranteed starting position and the remaining positions in the 43- car field of Dollar general 300 are determined by the official entry blank of the event.

From its start in 1982, different cars from different companies like Chevy, Ford, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Buick have won the Dollar general 300 race in different years. 2006 and 2007 was the year of Chevys with Dave Blaney and Jeff Burton as the drivers in respective years. The ticket rate for Dollar general 300 is affordable to the common man and is available on line. The 2008 Dollar general is scheduled for Friday, October 10th at 8.00 PM. The Dollar general 300 has made a particular niche in the car race and has become so popular that it attracts many race drivers as well as their fans. NASCAR has announced the use of new style cars in 2009, for its Busch series which includes Dollar General 300 as well.
