Duck Commander 500 Set for April 6
Ahead of the start of the 2014 NASCAR season, it was announced that the NRA 500 would become the Duck Commander 500 in conjunction with a new sponsorship deal. As evidenced by the name itself, the new moniker for the spring NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is in reference to the product line produced by Phil Robertson and family, who are of course featured in the popular A&E series, “Duck Dynasty.” The 2014 edition is scheduled for the afternoon of April 6 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. Note that the event is typically held on a Saturday night, but will be pushed to Sunday to accommodate the NCAA Final Four in Arlington which had already been scheduled for the evening of April 5.
Kyle Busch will enter the race as the defending champion after capturing his first career win at the event in 2013. The event was first established in 1997, and since then, only three drivers have claimed multiple victories including Jeff Burton, Matt Kenseth, and Greg Biffle, though neither won in consecutive fashion.
