2008 3M Performance 400 Information

3M Performance 400 is the final NASCAR race of the season held at the Michigan International Speedway located in Brooklyn, Michigan. This race came into being in 1969 when it was run at a length of 600 miles. It was dropped to a 400 mile race soon after and is still run like this today. By 1973, new owners stopped running the NASCAR race and exchanged it for the IndyCar. The 2007 year saw changes again in the name of the race when it was changed to the 3 M Performance 400 as the 3 M company is the current sponsors. The Previous sponsor was Citizens Bank. The Michigan International Speedway holding the 3M Performance 400 is a two mile lap track that resembles a “D” shape. There are more than 1400 acres that create this raceway.

Michigan International Speedway is the main track for NASCAR but has been known to be the base track of the Auto Club Speedway. The International Speedway Corporation owns this track and many others in the NASCAR circuit. Michigan International Speedway and the 3M Performance 400 are viewed as the top race and track of the NASCAR racing season.
