New England 300 NASCAR Information

The New England 300 is the old name of the Lenox Industrial Tools 300 (since 2006). This is a NASCAR (the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) Nextel Cup stock car race. It is usually held at the New Hampshire International Speedway, which is situated in Loudon.

The New Hampshire International Speedway was opened on the fifth of June, 1990. Originally, it was called the Bryar Motorsport Park. The Lenox Industrial Tools 300 is the major event taking place at the speedway, as well as the New England 200, Sylvania 300, and Sylvania 200. The New Hampshire International Speedway can host 91 thousand spectators. The track has the oval shape; its length is 1.058 miles.

The first race was held in 1993. During its thirteen-year history the race changed its name six times. From 1993 to 1995 it was called the Slick 50 300, from 1996 to 1999 its name was Jiffy Lube 300. In 200 the new sponsor called it thatlook.com 300. The following year it was renamed into the New England 300. In 2004 the Siemens Company became the sponsor of the race, and thus, it was renamed into Siemens 300. Last year it gained its old name the New England 300 race.

The total distance is 317 miles (or 511 km), and the number of laps equals to three hundred.

The first winner (in 1993) became Rusty Wallace (Russell William Rusty Wallace). He is a former champion of the NASCAR. Currently, he is a broadcaster on television, working with the Walt Disney Company. He started this job in May, 2006.

Rusty Wallace is a three-time champion. He won the 1983 ASA (the American Speed Association) Championship, in 1989 took the Winston Cup Championship prize, and in 1991 he became the winner of the IROC (the International Race of Champions) Championship. In 1984 he was named the Rookie of the Year, and in 1998 he was named one of the Fifty Greatest Drivers of the NASCAR.

The last champion of the Lenox Industrial Tools 300 (in 2006) was Kyle Thomas Busch. He was the youngest car driver to win a race in Nextel Cup. He currently drives Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. His racing home was the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He is a three-time Nextel Cup winner. In September 2005 he won in California participating in the Sony HD 500, later in November 2005, and in July 2006, as it was mentioned earlier, he became the winner of the Lenox Industrial Tools 300.
