Warriors January 2007 Update

The Golden State Warriors enjoyed a great start during the previous season. They managed to enter the new year with a winning percentage over .500% for the first time during the last twelve years. However, they were officially eliminated from the playoffs with a 114-109 overtime loss to the New Orleans Hornets, extending their playoff drought to twelve consecutive seasons. The season was finished with only .415% (34 wins versus 48 losses). Now they hold the active NBA record for non-playoff appearance streaks.

In the 2006 NBA Draft, the center Patrick O'Bryantthe was picked out in the ninth overall selection. Later, the team announced that they hired the former Dallas Mavericks coach Don Nelson to lead the team. The 2006-2007 seasons brings new hopes to the Golden State Warriors. With Don Nelson as the head coach, and the leading scorers Jason Richardson and Baron Davis the Golden State Warriors are sure to take part in the playoffs. As the latest statistics of January 2007 shows, the Warriors are .500% and have all chances to improve their previous records.

The Golden State Warriors played their recent game with the Phoenix Suns on January 7, 2007. To the Warriors’ fans regret, the Suns defeated Golden State by 23 points (128-105). Leandro Barbosa scored 26 points and James Jones added 25 points to lead their team to a home victory over the Golden State Warriors. Winning 14-5 at home and 4-13 on the road, the Warriors are third in the Pacific Division of the NBA standings with .500% (18 wins and 18 losses).
