Pacers look to improve

Though the Indiana Pacers finished the last season with only 41 wins and the same number of losses, they are still eager to show the high results in the nearest future. The 2006 off-season saw big changes in the team’s rooster. Shawne Williams and James White were hired. Moreover, in July 2006 the Pacers completed a sign-and-trade with the forward Peja Stojakovic. This trade was rather questionable, as Stojakovic was a free agent and could not be traded for. Later, the Pacers completed the trade for Harrington and John Edwards. However, the Indiana Pacers lost two precious players, Fred Jones and Scot Pollard, who now play for the Toronto Raptors and the Cleveland Cavaliers, respectively. All the changes introduced were part of the so-called “restoration project” of the team aimed at raising the Pacers image. However, in fall of 2006, it was hit by the questionable conduct of Stephen Jackson, who was hit by car upon leaving a strip club. In response, he pulled a gun and began shooting. No doubt, it did not enhance the image clean up conceived by the Pacers management. The most recent game of the Indiana Pacers was played on December 30, 2006. The team had to resist the strong attacks of the Charlotte Bobcats players. To the team’s regret, they did not make it (102-113), and thus failed for the seventh time in a row to extend a winning streak to three games, reducing to 9-5 at home. According to Conrad Brunner’s opinion, the Indiana Pacers reached the end of 2006 not at the level they wanted to. However, the players passed a major test, a particularly challenging one, especially for a team, rich in new faces, who are trying to adjust to a much different offensive strategy.
