NBA All-Star Game Background Information

Watching all the greatest players of a game is the utmost dream of every sports fan. The NBA (National Basketball Association) brings this opportunity in the form of its all-star games. The NBA All-Star Games have a rich history that dates back to March 2, 1951. There have been all star games every year between the Western Conference and its Eastern Conference. The players are selected through two methods. The first method is by means of a fan ballot. This makes the fan, the sovereign. The reserves are chosen by the coaches of various teams. The only restriction is that no coach can vote for players of his own team.

The coach with the greatest record in his conference, coaches the respective conference all star team. However, one coach cannot coach the same conference more than once. If a team shows its best performance in two successive years, the second best team gets the manager post. The game is played with normal rules and regulations of NBA games, yet they are different from usual NBA games. The fan vote can create a conundrum, if two players of the same position are selected. The players are introduced amidst heavy ovation and applause. The kits are also different.

The gameplay is marked with breath-taking slam dunks and fabulous three pointers. The defense is also very limited as the score line of the game receives the most attention. The coaches provide maximum possibilities for reserve players to play. The fourth quarter experiences blistering acceleration and has no dearth of action. The halftime has musical performances by various artists, and is therefore longer than normal. To cut a long story short, NBA All Star Games encompass the giants of basketball in a game of miniature time duration.
