To improve the poor results of the previous season (.256%) and to better prepare for the new 2006-2007 season, the Portland Trail Blazers made many transactions on the day of the 2006 NBA Draft, and became probably the busiest team. The Trail Blazers traded Sebastian Telfair and Theo Ratliff to Boston for Raef LaFrentz and Dan Dickau. They also traded the rights to Foye, along with cash considerations, to Minnesota for the rights to Brandon Roy. The team acquired the rights to Sergio Rodriguez from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for cash. Later, Steve Blake, Ha Seung-Jin, and Brian Skinner were traded to Milwaukee for the center Jamaal Magloire. Those were definitely the most notable deals; however, their number is not limited to the mentioned transactions.
In late December of 2006, the Trail Blazers announced that the forward Darius Miles needed to undergo microfracture surgery on his knee, and thus would miss the remainder of the season. On January 2, 2007, Portland waived Stephen Graham.
On January 7, 2007, Dwyane Wade from the Miami Heat returned after an injury and racked up 33 points leading his team to a victory over the Trail Blazers (93-90). Dorell Wright shot 4-of-6 from the field and added 12 points. The jumper of LaMarcus Aldridge's got the Blazers closer with 23 seconds left before Dwyane made a couple of free throws. Coached by Nate McMillan, the team is currently fourth in the Northwest Division with only .400% and is 7-11 at home and 7-10 on the road.
